Tenafeate Creek Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
Tenafeate Creek Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

The great Aussie blend in full flight - this is a cracking wine. Fills the mouth as you would expect a Barossan wine to do, but incredibly complex with some bacon fat, black fruit and coffee tone. Fruit is still quite vibrant, a little time to go for this one, but drinking oh so nicely now. Length of spice and vanilla. Kudos - here is what can happen when you find great, ripe parcels of Barossa Shiraz and Cab and blend it well. A steal.

Supermarket Wars
So, over the past few weeks the newspapers have picked up on a little tiff between Coles and Woolies, and their suppliers. Whether it be chicken, noodles, wine (or indeed VB) it is hard to see where this will end up - and if the result will be good or bad for wine. more >

Goodwill Wine
To most wine aficionados, the term ‘charity wine’ probably does not inspire a great deal of confidence. In truth, the model for most charity wine organisations is probably best summed up as buy juice that is as cheap as possible, spend your budget on a customised label and rely pretty much solely on the charity aspect in order to move product. That’s all well and good of course, and I am sure plenty of good things have been achieved with proceeds from fundraising of this type, but at the end of the day wouldn’t it be better if you could crack open the wine and drink something pretty darn good to go with the knowledge that your choice is assisting worthy causes? more >

baptism by vine

Wine is made from the fermentation of grape juice. But, there is a little more to it than that, otherwise we would all be doing it!

Purple Teeth - Not Anymore! 2009-07-20
When I drink wine, I hold it in my mouth for quite a good deal longer than most folks. Perhaps it is because I am always assessing the wine. Or more probably it is because I want to savour it for longer than is really necessary. Nonethless, that leads to having teeth (and tongue!) being significantly purple when I am drinking red wine of any great colour. more >
