Bordeaux Under Screwcap!

Written by Ian Robertson on 22nd January 2007

It has happened. A second growth Bordeaux producer will be supplying wine under screwcap after pressure from its UK distributers.

Les Tourelles de Longueville, the second wine of Paulliac chateau Pichon-Longueville, will have 12,000 bottles sealed with screwcap. These wines will be sent to distributer Bibendum and are bound for UK restaurants and bars. The distributer also sells to private buyers and merchants, and these buyers would be sold bottles with corks.

The move comes after pressure from the distributer to the French producer with the aim of introducing some "innovation" to the trade.
