Wendouree Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Made by Wendouree in Australia (region: Clare Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.7% alcohol tasted on 1st Jan 2011.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Ouch!
Cost: Usually between $65.00 - $120.00.
Looks: Dark purple in colour, with a medium to full looking body
Smells: Blackcurrant, licorice
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: Leaner than you think from the look, this is a wine of surprising blackcurrant fruit on entry, but giving way to complex spice characters and cedar. Some smokiness and leafiness all wrapped up in a gritty lean tannic package that is very very long. Cracking wine - simply one of the best. The lower price range is for those lucky enough to be on the cellar door mailing list - the Value rating represents what you would probably pay if you find it elsewhere.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site, Dan Murphy's, Winestar, Auction.
