Six Gates The Majnun Shiraz 2004
Made by Six Gates in Australia (region: Barossa Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.5% alchohol tasted on 4th Sep 2007.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Very Good
Value: Very Good
Cost: Usually between $14.58 - $22.00.
Looks: Black and full bodied
Smells: Interesting - really earthy, almost mushroomy in a very pleasant way
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: What an interesting drop. This is unmistakenly Barossa Shiraz - it has the ripe round plummy fruit and the choc tones. But it is the earthy, almost dry dirt characters that make this so interesting. More peppery and clovey in a dry spice way than Barossa Shiraz too, this wine hangs on for grim death on the finish and really makes you want to tuck into a steak. And crack another bottle. Top notch wine, especially for a first vintage from the producer! Insane value on squashedgrape.com.au.
Possible retailers: Squashedgrape.
