Escarpment Pinot Noir 2006
Made by Escarpment Vineyard in New Zealand (region: Martinborough)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14% alcohol tasted on 16th Nov 2007.
Grape: Pinot Noir
Quality: Very Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $49.99 - $55.99.
Looks: Dark red cherry colour, quite deep as well, with a medium to full body
Smells: Plum and black cherry fruit with some complex green tones
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: What an intriguing wine - you will either love this or hate it. A slight fizz on the tongue from some Co2 left in the wine - very slight - with very dark fruit tones and some tarry stuff. Tannins are tough and uncompromising, and length is pretty long. I was undecided on this wine until the 2nd glass when I decided that I loved it.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Cellar Door / Web Site, Dan Murphy's.
