Balnaves Of Coonawarra The Tally Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Made by Balnaves Of Coonawarra in Australia (region: Coonawarra)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14.5% alchohol tasted on 28th Nov 2007.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Quality: Outstanding
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $79.99 - $120.99.
Looks: Deep purple colour, yet still not totally black until the heart of the wine - medium to just full bodied in look
Smells: Black berry fruit, licorice, cedar and undergrowth - bracken fern
Feels: Medium bodied to full bodied
Tastes: Wow. What a wine! There is so much going on here. Black berry fruit at its core, yet a full red earthy tone and complex green ferny undergrowth permeate this wine as well. Some dry spice is there - and a solid meaty cedary finish that hangs for grim death - in fact, this is a very intense long finishing wine. I am struggling to remember a wine as complex and beautiful as this one that I have tasted in the last few years - this is just brilliant.
