Morris Durif 1999
Made by Morris in Australia (region: Rutherglen)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14% alcohol tasted on 9th Nov 2004.
Grape: Durif
Quality: Good
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $23.99 - $27.99.
Looks: Bright cherry red, with a solid looking body.
Smells: Powerful, with a mix of vanillan wood, spices, plums and sour cherries.
Feels: Medium full body.
Tastes: Fresh cherry juice fades on the finish to sour cherries, with a nice strong balance of wood. Firm tannins on the finish, which just keeps getting dustier and dryer.
This Italian varietal is well made and great for something different - although Italians comparing it to their own wines will need to realise that this will be juicier than they are used too!
Possible retailers: Theo's.
