G.H. Mumm Brut Cordon Rouge NV
Made by G.H. Mumm in France (region: Champagne)
.
A dry, sparkling, white wine with 12% alcohol tasted on 12th Dec 2007.
Grape: Chardonnay Pinot Noir Pinot Meunier
Quality: Very Good
Value: Ouch!
Cost: Usually between $59.99 - $69.99.
Looks: Pale gold with a very slight green tinge. Lightly oily with a small bubble.
Smells: Easy going fresh fruity nose
Feels: ROund plush mouthfeel - good bubble
Tastes: I did not hav expectations of Mumm to stand up to the others in this NV tasteoff. In truth it did not quite stand up to them, but it nonetheless surprised me in a good way. No real yeast flavours here - this is full of melons and stone fruit and a good long finish. Easy to drink, easy to enjoy - can't really be called complex but I still had a ball drinking it.
Possible retailers: Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, 1st Choice.
