Gemtree Bloodstone Tempranillo 2006
Made by Gemtree Vineyards in Australia (region: McLaren Vale)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14.5% alchohol tasted on 21st Dec 2007.
Grape: Tempranillo
Quality: Okay
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $18.99 - $22.99.
Looks: Dark red/purple, quite black really, with a full body
Smells: Ripe plums and a prune sort of thing going on as well
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: Ripe and sweet plummy fruit all over this wine, with a little acidic tang of something raisoned or pruney. Length is fair. If someone had given this to me in a blind tasting, I think I would have struggled to pick it as tempranillo. That's not necessarily a bad thing - but this is ripe and round and not much to it for mine.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Cellar Door.
