Knappstein Enterprise Shiraz 1998
Made by Knappstein in Australia (region: Clare Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14% alchohol tasted on 22nd Dec 2007.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Very Good
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $35.99 - $39.99.
Looks: Black purple with only a slight amount of red on the edge - interesting for a 10 year old wine - quite heavy looking
Smells: Black fruit and red berry - very fresh smelling with solid meaty tones
Feels: Heavy
Tastes: Sometimes you gotta crack something old, that if I rate it well and you out there want it, you are going to have to troll the auction sites for. And, this might well be worth it, as it should not break the bank at auction. So young tasting - the fruit is still vibrant and acids still strongly lining it. Licorice and pepper line a wine that is really beefy - and I mean meat tasting. Length is long and full. This is pretty powerful stuff, and tastes good too!
Possible retailers: Cellar Door.
