Charles Melton Rose Of Virginia 2007
Made by Charles Melton in Australia (region: Barossa Valley)
.
A dry, still, rosé wine with 12% alchohol tasted on 25th Dec 2007.
Grape: Pinot Meunier Cabernet Sauvignon Grenache Shiraz
Quality: Very Good
Value: Above Average
Cost: Usually between $19.99 - $25.99.
Looks: Dark crimson colour - light in body
Smells: Dark raspberry and slight redskins sniff
Feels: Light - but a little more body than most rose
Tastes: On the heavier "red wine" end of the rose spectrum, but this label year in year out is the dominant force in this style of wine for mine. Beautiful full dark raspberry fruit with a hint of cherry - and it is fruit flavouried, not sugar or lolly. A hint of tannins to give mouthfeel and a long finish. Acidity is refreshing and dry. A ripper. Buy it by the case. Edging up in price though...
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Dan Murphy's, First Estate, Kemeny's, Winestar, 1st Choice.
