Astrolabe Voyage Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Made by Astrolabe in New Zealand (region: Marlborough)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 13% alchohol tasted on 4th Feb 2008.
Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Quality: Very Good
Value: Above Average
Cost: Usually between $24.99 - $28.99.
Looks: Very clear and bright - slight colour of green at edge, but very very slight - and light in body
Smells: Tropical fruit - especially lychee and passionfruit
Feels: Light
Tastes: Something is wrong with the world order at the moment. I liked the last Sauvignon I tasted, and I like this one as well. A lot. Juicy tropical fruit, lychee, passionfruit - ooze out of this wine with a slight hint of grass. And there is the key - this is fierce and acidic - but it is fruit acid not grass. Long finishing for this type as well. You want good Sauvignon? Give this a try.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Dan Murphy's, 1st Choice.
