Pirie South Pinot Noir 2006
Made by Pirie in Australia (region: Southern Tasmania)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.5% alchohol tasted on 21st Feb 2008.
Grape: Pinot Noir
Quality: Good
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $25.99 - $28.99.
Looks: Lovely bright red colour. Not too deep, and very light looking in body
Smells: Raspberry and red cherry with not much else on the nose - quite closed
Feels: Light
Tastes: This almost starts too simple for a Pinot - making you wonder if this is really a picnic wine in disguide. But the longer it sits in the glass, some dark cherry tones start to seep in along with some fine gritty tannins. Length then starts to grow a little. So, perhaps more than meets the first sip.
Possible retailers: Dan Murphy's, 1st Choice.
