Capercaillie 'The Creel' Semillon 2006
Made by Capercaillie in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 10% alchohol tasted on 24th Feb 2008.
Grape: Semillon
Quality: Very Good
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $37.95 - $37.95.
Looks: Very clean, clear and bright - not much colour to it and very light looking
Smells: Clean fresh apple and dried grass
Feels: Light
Tastes: A real crunchy wine. Acids are still fierce, but in a good way. Lovely apple tones but not too sour nor too bitter - a real sweet apple acidity. The finish is incredibly long and lean with a real note of minerality. This could turn out to be far better with some age than this rating.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door.
