Capercaillie 'The Ghillie' Shiraz 2005
Made by Capercaillie in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.5% alchohol tasted on 28th Feb 2008.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $37.95 - $37.95.
Looks: Very light looking, and lovely red colour that is not very deep at all
Smells: Red berry and some earthy tones
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: Very good lip smacking acidity in the wine with no real greenness and the weight that I expect a Hunter shiraz to be - medium bodied. Red berry, giving way to earth and a black pepper finish. Slightly short. Great food wine, but short of excellence.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door.
