Capercaillie 'Ceilidh' Shiraz 2006
Made by Capercaillie in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 15% alchohol tasted on 1st Mar 2008.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Good
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $29.00 - $29.00.
Looks: Very black and dark. Full bodied.
Smells: Black fruit smell - a bit of licorice and oak
Feels: Heavy
Tastes: A full-on style that is a blend of Hunter, McLaren Vale and Barossa Shiraz. Dark, brooding, licorice and oak but the Hunter Shiraz dominates the rest making this not sweet or round - it is still edgey and has a good zippy line in your mouth. You can tell it is a blend - there is a lot going on. It is not an outstanding wine, but I have to say I really enjoyed drinking it.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door.
