Meerea Park Terracotta Shiraz 2005
Made by Meerea Park in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14% alchohol tasted on 14th Mar 2008.
Grape: Shiraz Viognier
Quality: Very Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $55.00 - $55.00.
Looks: Dark red colour with a real vibrant sticky look to it
Smells: Red cherry and raspberry - a real floral lift
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: This producer is the champion of Shiraz Viognier in the Hunter, insisting that the dry earth and spice tones of Hunter shiraz suit the blend more than most regions. They have a point - although a critical man would crave a little more earth and spice from this wine rather than the oily floral elements. A case of a little too much Viognier for my taste perhaps, however many others will drool over this extremely smooth styled wine. Red berry dominates a ripe and long palate with some very slight vanilla surrounding it all in a cuddly velvet pillow.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door.
