Meerea Park Alexander Munro Individual Vineyard Shiraz 2004
Made by Meerea Park in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14% alchohol tasted on 15th Mar 2008.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Very Good
Value: Ouch!
Cost: Usually between $60.00 - $60.00.
Looks: Dark black colour, although even at this heavy looking weight not entirely black at its heart
Smells: Ripe dark fruit with some oak sitting out a bit
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: This is just me - there is a little too much oak on this wine for such lovely fruit. Having said that, how can you knock this wine? Lovely sour dark cherry fruit flavours with licorice and oak tones giving way to some earthy characters and some black pepper. My head debated whether the Hunter should produce a ripe, full round almost chocy wine like this - my mouth just drank it and appreciated it.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door.
