Suckfizzle Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
Made by Suckfizzle in Australia (region: Margaret River)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14% alchohol tasted on 11th Apr 2008.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Quality: Very Good
Value: Ouch!
Cost: Usually between $55.99 - $69.99.
Looks: Dark purple colour, with some slight brick colour at the edge - full bodied
Smells: Licorice and tar and dried blackcurrant
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: This is a wine I had been waiting a while to try - some wine writers seemed to love this label, others seemed to think it green and underperforming. Me? I like it, but can't say it commands its pricetag. Lovely gritty tannins and quite a meaty long finish, the fruit was tasty but of a dried fruit character and already receding deep into the wine at this age. Good savoury notes make this a complex and interesting drop. I think the parts are all there for something special in the future from this label, but while this is enjoyable - I can foresee some outstanding wine to come.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Cellar Door, Dan Murphy's.
