Cyril's Reserve Sylvan Springs Estate Shiraz 2006
Made by Sylvn Springs in Australia (region: McLaren Vale)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 15% alchohol tasted on 17th Apr 2008.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $34.95 - $39.95.
Looks: Dark red colour, with a full look to it
Smells: Tarry and savoury notes, meaty as well
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: Plummy and choc characters come through, and 'dip' in the mid palate with a grippy tannin and acid surge, finishing with a meaty tone. This wine is an enjoyable drink, but certainly seems to settle a little in bottle before becoming really integrated. Nonetheless, a lovely wine - but I have to say, when the same place produces such a cracking value Shiraz, I am not sure if I would worry about paying extra for this one.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door, Squashedgrape.
