TamburlaineHunter Reserve Member's Cabernet Merlot 2006
Made by Tamburlaine in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.7% alchohol tasted on 10th May 2008.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Quality: Okay
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $29.99 - $34.99.
Looks: Quite black, but medium bodied
Smells: Blackcurrants and some mint tones
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: The style of this wine is what I would like to see more of given the high alcohol wines Tamburlaine have produced on their other reds this year. Medium bodied, tightly wound, thin and zippy acids. The flavour profile does not quite back it up though - a little too minty, tannins a little too aggressive, and the finish unrefined. Close - but no cigar.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door.
