Pol Roger Reserve Champagne NV
Made by Pol Roger in France (region: Champagne)
.
A dry, sparkling, white wine with 12% alchohol tasted on 31st May 2008.
Grape: Chardonnay Pinot Noir Pinot Meunier
Quality: Outstanding
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $69.99 - $79.99.
Looks: Very light looking body, with a clear and bright tone and medium sized bead
Smells: Lightly toasty but mainly grapefruit tones
Feels: Light, and good frothy fizz if slightly too broad on the bubble
Tastes: For a wine that has wide appeal, I was surprised by how bracing and acidic this was. Very grapefruity and ripping into your mouth. Matched with a light toasty tone, and a good long finish, this is not for the faint of heart yet is still elegant. I like.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, 1st Choice.
