Giaconda Chardonnay 2006
Made by Giaconda in Australia (region: Beechworth)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 13.9% alcohol tasted on 5th Jul 2008.
Grape: Chardonnay
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Ouch!
Cost: Usually between $100.00 - $160.00.
Looks: Slight pale gold colour coming through, and a lovely very slight oily body
Smells: Nuts and spice, rounded and glorious - powerful on the nose
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: Descriptors don't do justice. Simply glorious. Less acidity than the 2005 opened on the same night, but still fresh and lively. But fruit is active only in the background here - nutty and round tones and complexity and spices show themselves here and do so with aplomb. I want this wine day in day out. Massive length goes without saying.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site.
