Kangarilla Road Fleurieu Zinfandel 2002
Made by Kangarilla Road in Australia (region: Fleurieu)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14.5% alcohol tasted on 9th Jan 2005.
Grape: Zinfandel
Quality: Very Good
Value: Good
Cost: Usually between $16.99 - $19.99.
Looks: Purple / ruby red verging on black. (no, I can't make up my mind!) Medium to heavy in the glass.
Smells: Medium intensity, with a tar like nose giving way to dry spices and vanilla. A bit of a sherry like nose as well, but that just may be the alcohol!
Feels: Pretty darn full.
Tastes: Surprisingly, the first fruit taste was of raspberry, giving way to cherry flavours and a little of that tar-like flavour. Light silky tannin and a looong flavour.
This wine really surprised me - juicy and full, it is great drinking now. I really don't know if it will stand the test of time in a cellar, but who cares? I would drink this sucker now!
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Theo's.
