Howard Park Chardonnay 2007
Made by Howard Park in Australia (region: Great Southern)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 13.5% alcohol tasted on 9th Feb 2009.
Grape: Chardonnay
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Above Average
Cost: Usually between $35.99 - $38.00.
Looks: Lovely golden colour, bright and clear. Medium bodied
Smells: Tropical fruited - almost a hint of banana.
Feels: Medium to full bodied for chardonnay
Tastes: Wow. I have had Howard Park Chardonnay before, but wow, had I forgotten how competitive it is? On this basis - yes I had. Good tropical fruit flavour, a hint of banana that is hinted on the nose, and a lot of soda like minerality and lemon myrtle citrus keeping it all juicy and fresh. Length is majorly impressive. I can't speak more highly of this wine - if Voyager Estate is the bargain Chardonnay of WA, then I think its throne is in trouble with this wine.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Cellar Door / Web Site, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, Winestar, 1st Choice.
