Rumball Sparkling Shiraz NV
Made by Peter Rumball Wines in Australia (region: Coonawarra)
.
A dry, sparkling, red wine with 12.5% alcohol tasted on 15th Mar 2009.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Good
Value: Above Average
Cost: Usually between $17.99 - $22.99.
Looks: Crimson red colour, not opaque, with a real bubble going on.
Smells: Raspberry / cherry flavoured lollies
Feels: Medium bodied with a decent, medium bubble sized fizz
Tastes: My description of this wine will not make it appeal to wine nerds at all. It is quite lolly-like in its tones - raspberry and cherry lolly tasting, but with a dryish finish. The bubbles are handled very well - enough to lift the wine above the syrup taste and give it freshness and life. But there is also a little acid giving this effect as well, so that you still decide that this wine is dry when are finished. So having said all that - this is so easy to drink, and so inoffensive, that you have to like it.
Possible retailers: Woolworths Liquor, Liquorland, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, 1st Choice.
