Crawford River Riesling 2008
Made by Crawford River in Australia (region: Henty)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 14% alcohol tasted on 1st Apr 2009.
Grape: Riesling
Quality: Very Good
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $34.99 - $39.99.
Looks: Bright, clear and light looking. Fairly colourless
Smells: Fruit salad, with some flinty characters
Feels: Light
Tastes: The top wine from Crawford River is a lovely thing. Again, ever so slight amount of sweetness on the front accenting fruit salad tones over citrus, but this gives way to a complex mid palate of flint and mineral water. The finish is long and cloying, and has a fair bit going on. This wine will look very interesting in a year - perhaps even increase in rating if I look at it again. As a young wine it has a little too much fruit simplicity for a higher grade, but...that could change.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site.
