Jasper Hill Emily's Paddock Shiraz Cabernet Franc 2006
Made by Jasper Hill in Australia (region: Heathcote)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 15% alcohol tasted on 7th May 2009.
Grape: Shiraz Cabernet Franc
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Ouch!
Cost: Usually between $85.00 - $110.00.
Looks: Heavy looking, dark red purple in colour
Smells: Complex. Fruit driven and powerful, but with all sorts of earth and spice and herb notes
Feels: Heavy
Tastes: Wow. This wine makes a statement when you first drink it. Packs a gorgeous red and black berry fruit whallop, followed by a gritty tannin mouthfeel with a meaty, grainy textured middle. Finish is long and glorious, with lovely peppery notes. The middle is where this wine shows its class - the mouthfeel changes entirely and is so complex. A Wine Of The Year contender for mine.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Cellar Door / Web Site, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, Winestar.
