Peregrine Pinot Noir 13.50
Made by Peregrine in New Zealand (region: Central Otago)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.5% alcohol tasted on 11th May 2009.
Grape: Pinot Noir
Quality: Below Par
Value: Ouch!
Cost: Usually between $40.00 - $49.99.
Looks: Dark cherry red and quite full bodied
Smells: Cooked raspberries
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: Hmmm. I have had some sensational Pinot's from Central Otago in this price range and I have had ones that have not set the world on fire but been good. This is the style gone wrong. Cooked raspberry fruit with a round bitter choc coating. Tannins are velvety, finish is long but this does not make up for the disappointing flavour profile.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars.
