Yelland & Papps Old Vine Grenache 2007
Made by Yelland & Papps in Australia (region: Barossa Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14.59% alcohol tasted on 16th May 2009.
Grape: Grenache
Quality: Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $30.00 - $30.00.
Looks: Dark cherry red colour. Full bodied.
Smells: Dark cooked cherries and bitter chocolate.
Feels: Full bodied.
Tastes: This wine smells like it will be alcoholic and fumey - the cooked cherry smell hints at that anyway, but on the palate it is something different to that. Savoury, fresh tasting, yet still with that slight cooked element and a strong sour cherry. Finish is good, solid and fresh. Tannins are gritty and very slightly bitter. A solid wine indeed.
