Yelland & Papps Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Made by Yelland & Papps in Australia (region: Barossa Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14.5% alcohol tasted on 23rd May 2009.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Quality: Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $30.00 - $30.00.
Looks: Dark purple red, with a full body. Not as deep as it could be, but solid in colour.
Smells: Very powerful nose, leaps out of the glass
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: The first thing that struck me was the oak. Chunky, bitter chocolate oak that at this stage of the wine's life really did overwhelm the fruit to a large extent. The fruit was round and tasting of black berry that has just been reduced for a sauce. Finish is fair. This wine is not quite together for mine, but is still enjoyable drinking.
