Yelland & Papps Greenock Shiraz 2007
Made by Yelland & Papps in Australia (region: Barossa Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14.5% alcohol tasted on 23rd May 2009.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Very Good
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $30.00 - $30.00.
Looks: Nice dark red purple colour, though not completely opaque. Full looking.
Smells: Good red cherry and cocoa on the nose
Feels: Full
Tastes: Given that oak seems to be fairly dominant in these 07 releases from Yelland & Papps the trend continues here, however the fruit is much more up to the task of coping. So bitter chocolate and cocoa tones still are fairly hefty in the mix, but the berry and cherry fruit tones stand up a little more. Some spicey pepper tones and a meaty middle also help the balance and a nice grippy finish rounds out a solid wine. Very nice.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site.
