Ashton Hills Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir 2007
Made by Ashton Hills in Australia (region: Adelaide Hills)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.5% alcohol tasted on 11th Jul 2009.
Grape: Pinot Noir
Quality: Very Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $39.99 - $45.00.
Looks: Light medium in the glass and glossy and bright in colour. Good crimson/red.
Smells: Strawberries and raspberries
Feels: Light to medium
Tastes: So enjoyable. I have had some seriously good Ashton Hills Pinot's - in fact, I don't think I have had one that I did not at least think was Very Good. And that is what this is. Easy to drink, good fit for food, but maybe lacking the complexity for greatness. Sometimes though, that is not a bad thing. Nice berry fruit tones with raspberry dominating and a good acidic lick, soft and accomodating with good length and tannins that build slowly, this is a lovely wine.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site, Winestar.
