Domain Phillip Jones Classic Pinot Noir 2001
Made by Bass Phillip Wines in Australia (region: Mornington)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 12.8% alcohol tasted on 12th Jul 2009.
Grape: Pinot Noir
Quality: Very Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $39.99 - $39.99.
Looks: Cherry red, and quite cloudy in appearance, with a light look to it
Smells: Red cherry, raspberry, hint of strawberry and undergrowth
Feels: Light
Tastes: There is so much to commend in this wine. For one thing, it has Phillip Jones, he of Bass Phillip fame, name on the label and yet you don't need another mortgage to buy it! Using Mornington fruit he has still made a complex, spicy wine that has good length and interest. Not a classic bugundy by any means - the fruit is still too upfront for that, but nonethless you can tell this is Pinot. Great with food, good length and tannins that grip without being grippy. Top wine for the money.
