Lake's Folly Chardonnay 2007
Made by Lake's Folly in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 14% alcohol tasted on 15th Jul 2009.
Grape: Chardonnay
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $55.00 - $85.00.
Looks: Lovely deep gold colour, with a medium body
Smells: Earthy, cheddar cheese and biscuits type smell
Feels: Medium - perhaps even almost light medium
Tastes: I had almost given up on Hunter Chardonnay. The ones I liked had moved a long way away from the distinct Hunter flavour, and the ones that tasted like Hunter were not nice wines. It took an old legend to change my mind again. This wine is light and subtle in body, and anything but in flavour. It is full of fruit, but also full of competing earth and oak flavours. There is mushroom, dry earth, cheese, biscuits and even some some cinnamon. And it all works brilliantly. Hunter Chardonnay - I'm sorry I fell out of love with you.
