De Bortoli Premium Reserve Shiraz NA
Made by De Bortoli in Australia.
A dry, still, red wine with 13% alcohol tasted on 1st Aug 2009.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Below Par
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $14.99 - $16.99.
Looks: Bright red colour, though not particularly dark. Medium body
Smells: Cooked red berries and a slight 'cheap wine' sour edge
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: Drinkable? Yes, yes it is. Successful wine? Well, maybe not quite that far. A solid sweet cooked berry flavour dominates that gives off a slight porty tone. Tannins are controlled and very light, though not soft. Length - well it is mainly the sour edge of the acidity. This all sounds negative and it is not meant to be - this is very drinkable and really shows steps in a positive direction for cask wine. 2 litre cask.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, BWS, Woolworths Liquor, Liquorland, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, Winestar, 1st Choice.
