De Bortoli Premium Reserve Chardonnay NA
Made by De Bortoli in Australia.
A dry, still, white wine with 13.5% alcohol tasted on 2nd Aug 2009.
Grape: Chardonnay
Quality: Below Par
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $14.99 - $16.99.
Looks: Very light gold colour, perhaps with a hint of green. Light to medium bodied
Smells: Grapefruit and wood
Feels: Light to medium
Tastes: Fairly remarkable to have an oaked chardonnay in a light, grapefruit acid style in a cask. The acidity does get a little sour after too much, and it is the main factor on the finish. The oak is very well handled it has to be said - giving a good creamy cage for the wine, but not containing the sourness. Can't complain about the quality of this.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, BWS, Woolworths Liquor, Liquorland, Dan Murphy's, Kemeny's, 1st Choice.
