Meerea Park Late Harvest Viognier 2006
Made by Meerea Park in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A sweet, still, white wine with 13% alcohol tasted on 13th Aug 2009.
Grape: Viognier
Quality: Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $17.00 - $20.00.
Looks: Bright golden colour, but not intensely deep, with a medium syrupy look to it
Smells: Fresh and cooked apricots, all together in happy land
Feels: Not too thick and syrupy, but enough sugar to make it a full mouthfeel
Tastes: It is always a good idea for a cellar door to have a sweet wine. And for Boutique Wine Centre, home for Meerea Park among others, they should be applauded for using their Viognier fruit to go for one rather than use too much of that sensational Semillon they seem to obtain! This wine though is a real matter of taste. For mine, the apricot flavours of the wine are something I don't particularly relate too. But, on the other hand, there are others I have seen with this wine who love it because it tastes different to other white dessert wines. It is balanced, not too sugary and has a good strong finish. So, it should get some decent marks, shouldn't it??
