Meerea Park Alexander Munro Individual Vineyard Chardonnay 2008
Made by Meerea Park in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 13% alcohol tasted on 14th Aug 2009.
Grape: Chardonnay
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Good
Cost: Usually between $25.50 - $30.00.
Looks: Pale gold, with a medium body
Smells: Earth, pears, peaches, slight scent of cheddar and mushrooms
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: This is all a Hunter Chardonnay should be, and at such a young age I am very excited about what it could end up being. It tastes of French oak - which I am not 100% sure it has by the way - and is all earthy, grainy and cheesy in the mix. But it also has fresh fruit salad tones - they just subdued in the mix. It is a subtle, not powerful, Chardonnay. The acidity holding it all together is actually quite lemony. The bottle says to go for short to medium term cellaring. I would hope this one does a little more than that.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site.
