Meerea Park Alexander Munro Individual Vineyard Semillon 2003
Made by Meerea Park in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 11% alcohol tasted on 16th Aug 2009.
Grape: Semillon
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Good
Cost: Usually between $29.75 - $35.00.
Looks: Pale pale gold colour, still with flashes of green. Light bodied.
Smells: Complex. Orange peel, mandarins, hay, limes.
Feels: Light
Tastes: This is a wine that some will adore and others will struggle with. I adore it. The acidity is fierce - I wonder what it was like when it was young! All sorts of citrus, but some lime stands on top of the mix of mandarin and orange peel. The age is allowing some hay tones to set in, and a hint of toast that is to keep developing. The finish is long and dry. Such a complex beast, crying out for a strong goat's cheese and not much more.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site.
