Meerea Park Alexander Munro Individual Vineyard Shiraz 2006
Made by Meerea Park in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 14.5% alcohol tasted on 18th Aug 2009.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Outstanding
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $59.50 - $70.00.
Looks: Dark purple black, but not opaque. Medium bodied.
Smells: Earth, leather, tar and red berry.
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: Man, this wine makes me very happy. I have tasted many Meerea Park shirazes in the last few years and while I liked them, I was worried they were not 'Hunter' enough in their use of oak. Boy, nothing to worry about here! This is medium bodied, earth come leather come red fruits Hunter shiraz through and through with meaty tannins and a long long finish. Crying out for meat, this is simply a gorgeous wine. I honestly don't know what more to say...
