Cape Mentelle Chardonnay 2004
Made by Cape Mentelle in Australia (region: Margaret River)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 14% alcohol tasted on 23rd Aug 2009.
Grape: Chardonnay
Quality: Very Good
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $29.99 - $39.99.
Looks: Pale gold, with a nice glow. Medium bodied.
Smells: Smooth, creamy oak with a slight mix of stonefruit
Feels: Medium bodied, though verging on full
Tastes: Lovely Margaret River Chardonnay that maybe falls slightly short of absolute greatness, but nonetheless still a pleasure to drink. Complex oak flavours, very creamy - almost custard-like, with a nice vanilla bean and cinnamon spice. Length is good and fruit is fair but maybe slightly overtaken by what is admittedly tasty oak.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Dan Murphy's, 1st Choice.
