Pirathon Shiraz 2008
Made by Kalleske in Australia (region: Barossa Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 15% alcohol tasted on 9th Sep 2009.
Grape: Shiraz
Quality: Very Good
Value: Above Average
Cost: Usually between $23.00 - $23.00.
Looks: Very full looking, blood red colour very deep
Smells: Ripe and full of cedar and coffee
Feels: Full bodied
Tastes: This is a big wine, no lie! But, the alcohol is kept very well in check by the flavours. Very big ripe fruit tones, good dollop of coffee and chocolate oak, good velvety tannins and nice warm finish. Perhaps difficult to match with food, however drink it by itself and it will be an enjoyable little number on a cool evening. (what? 30 degrees + on the weekend? Ah, who cares, drink this anyway!)
