Beyerskloof Pinotage 2001
Made by Beyerskloof in South Africa (region: Stellenbosch)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13% alcohol tasted on 13th Feb 2005.
Grape: Pinotage
Quality: Good
Value: Good
Cost: Usually between $14.99 - $16.98.
Looks: Deep, rich crimson, with a light look.
Smells: Persistant dark cherry, cocoa and a little dustiness.
Feels: Light
Tastes: Juicy ripe cherry and some plummy fruit, with a real spread over your tongue. A long, fruit driven finish that descends into a real stalky, bitter wood finish.
Takes some getting used too, but it grows on you!
Certainly nice to taste a South African variety that you don't get much of in Aus.
Possible retailers: Theo's, Nick's Vintage Direct.
