Mount Pleasant Single Vineyard Lovedale Semillon 2003
Made by Mount Pleasant Wines in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 12% alcohol tasted on 16th Oct 2009.
Grape: Semillon
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $45.99 - $59.99.
Looks: Pale gold colour, very light looking
Smells: Citrus and straw
Feels: Light
Tastes: Great example of Hunter semillon, and despite the couple of years still very very fresh tasting. This wine is showing hints of age with some of the straw/hay characters but not quite reaching toast and honey...yet. The acidity is still very very fresh - lemon and green apples zipping through the wine. Length is pretty good as well - a wine that really is built for food. There are perhaps semillons of equal quality that are priced more keenly, but this wine is a standard bearer for the style.
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, Cellar Door / Web Site, Dan Murphy's, Auction.
