Stonehaven Stepping Stone Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Made by Stonehaven in Australia (region: Limestone Coast)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.5% alcohol tasted on 14th Oct 2009.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Quality: Okay
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $15.99 - $18.99.
Looks: Red cherry colour, medium body
Smells: Ripe red and black fruits, maybe simple smelling
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: This is a slightly plusher tasting wine than I can remember from past experience of this label. The fruit is soft and cuddly on the front of the palate - not really as lean and angular as cabernet can be, and green tones are kept to a minimum. The wine has been made to be very easily drunk by the majority - and I feel that it certainly achieves wide appeal. Tannins are pretty soft, some clove spice gives a little complexity. Is it a great wine? No, it is more simple than that, but it suits its audience fine.
