Audrey Wilkinson Pioneer Series Traminer 2008
Made by Audrey Wilkinson in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 10.5% alcohol tasted on 8th Oct 2009.
Grape: Traminer
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Very Good
Cost: Usually between $20.00 - $20.00.
Looks: Very light and very pale and water like in appearance
Smells: Lychee and kiwi fruit on the nosein fruit terms, but that is subdued to the slightly brassy floral nose
Feels: Light
Tastes: Wow, this is one out of the box. I almost did not believe the staff member on cellar door who advised that this wine was worth tasting. An absolute cracking wine. Good lychee juice start that gives way to a very slightly stoney/metallic spine (in a good way) and finishes with a real spicey edge. Length carries and carries. This wine pulls off a great impersonation of European finesse matched with some new world juice. It may be a cliche, but drinking this wine with Thai stir fry based food (lemon grass, basil, chilli and coriander) would be an absolute joy.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site.
