Rothbury Barrel Select Merlot 2002
Made by Rothbury Estate in Australia (region: Hunter Valley)
.
A dry, still, red wine with 13.5% alcohol tasted on 23rd Mar 2005.
Grape: Merlot
Quality: Good
Value: Above Average
Cost: Usually between $19.98 - $22.99.
Looks: A slightly browning red, with a medium body.
Smells: Brandy and fruitcake with some dry spices. Quite powerful.
Feels: Light to medium bodied.
Tastes: A burst of dry cherry and plum fruit, drying out to fruit cake with a brandy finish. Quite a long finish - it certainly does not suffer the Merlot curse of being short on length of flavour!
Good, simple and refreshing. Quite a surprise packet.
Possible retailers: Cellar Door / Web Site.
