Yelland & Papps Delight Grenache Rosé 2009
Made by Yelland & Papps in Australia (region: Barossa Valley)
.
A dry, still, rosé wine with 13% alcohol tasted on 31st Oct 2009.
Grape: Grenache
Quality: Outstanding
Value: Very Good
Cost: Usually between $17.00 - $17.00.
Looks: Vibrant pink/crimson colour, though not as deeply coloured as some pink wines from the Barossa. Light to medium bodied
Smells: Raspberry and strawberry, but with lifted citrus and floral tones as well
Feels: Light to medium bodied
Tastes: When you see Grenache and Barossa in the same sentence, you conjure up a different wine to this one for the most part. Even pink wines will tend to be ripe, round and bulging with fruit. Not that this wine does not have a solid fruity entrance - the difference is the great acidic spine and almost citrusy complexity that carries through the middle and keeps going on the finish. It is almost southern French in tone on the finish but Aussie on the front - a great combo if you ask me! I think this wine really deserves that rare thing - an Outstanding rating for a pink wine.
