Howard Park Chardonnay 2008
Made by Howard Park in Australia (region: Great Southern)
.
A dry, still, white wine with 13% alcohol tasted on 15th Nov 2009.
Grape: Chardonnay
Quality: Good
Value: A Little Excessive
Cost: Usually between $38.00 - $38.00.
Looks: Pale gold, with medium body
Smells: Fresh goats cheese with some nutty tones
Feels: Medium bodied
Tastes: Previous vintages have impressed me more on opening, but I suspect this will grow on me more with some bottle age. Not as mouthfilling and obvious as the brand (which is saying something, because this is one of the most subtle Margaret River Chardy's) this is more acidic lined and citrusy than some. The oak is very subtle, which is interesting given the nose. Length is short at the point of time tasted - I wonder though is it is still getting used to the bottle...?
Possible retailers: Vintage Cellars, BWS, Cellar Door / Web Site, Liquorland, Dan Murphy's, 1st Choice.
